Students Returning from Iran Say Situation Far Less Serious Than Portrayed on Social Media

Srinagar: Students returning to Kashmir from Iran have dismissed social media reports claiming widespread panic and chaos in the country. They said the ground situation remains stable and far less alarming than online narratives suggest.

Several Kashmiri students enrolled in Iranian universities spoke to media upon their return. They described normal life continuing in major cities, with routine activities proceeding without disruption. The students said educational institutions remained functional and public transport operated as usual during their stay.

Social media platforms have recently circulated posts suggesting escalating tensions and unsafe conditions in Iran. The returning students contradicted these claims. They said their universities and residential areas remained peaceful throughout their academic term.

One student noted the exaggeration of isolated incidents on social media platforms. He said such posts created unnecessary alarm among families back home. Another student emphasized the need to verify information before sharing it widely online.

The students acknowledged ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region. However, they maintained these have not translated into ground-level instability affecting daily life for residents or international students. They urged families and prospective students to rely on credible sources rather than unverified social media content.

Educational consultants advising Kashmiri students about Iranian universities echoed similar views. They said communication channels with students in Iran remain open and functional. The consultants advised parents to stay in direct contact with their children rather than depending on social media for updates.
