Authorities Probe Dumping of Voter Forms and Aadhaar Copies in Uttar Pradesh

Sultanpur: The Uttar Pradesh administration has ordered an investigation after hundreds of election related documents, including completed voter registration forms and Aadhaar card photocopies, were found dumped in bushes along Diyara Road in Lambhua area of Sultanpur district.

Local residents discovered the documents on June 22 after noticing papers scattered along the roadside. Videos of the incident soon circulated on social media, drawing the attention of district officials.

Among the recovered material were Form 6 applications used for voter registration, Aadhaar photocopies and other identity documents containing personal details. Preliminary reports and videos indicated that the papers had been placed inside a sack and discarded in an open area. Some reports also suggested the documents were removed from a government record room in the old tehsil building after its lock was allegedly broken. Authorities have included this claim in the ongoing inquiry.

District Magistrate Indrajeet Singh ordered an investigation and described the matter as serious. He said officials were examining how the records reached the roadside and promised action against anyone found responsible for negligence.

Residents said many of the documents appeared to belong to voters from the Gosai Ka Pura, Gandhi Nagar area. Several forms reportedly contained names, addresses, mobile numbers and Aadhaar copies, raising concerns over the security of personal information.

Police and revenue officials collected the documents from the site and began their investigation. Local leaders from the Samajwadi Party also visited the area and alleged that many forms belonged to members of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes and minority communities. They called for an impartial inquiry and strict action.

The district administration said further steps will depend on the findings of the investigation.
