New Delhi, June 13: In a significant development, the Supreme Court has directed re-examinations at NEET centers where grace marks were previously awarded, while allowing the counseling and admission processes for unaffected candidates to proceed as scheduled. The court has also retained the authority to annul the entire examination process should any discrepancies emerge.
Abdullah Faiz, National Secretary of the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) of India, announced in a press release that this ruling, in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by SIO, will result in the nullification of the scorecards for 1,563 affected candidates, who will now have to appear for a retest. Faiz hailed the verdict as a partial victory and a crucial step towards achieving justice.
The Supreme Court’s decision comes in the wake of allegations regarding a paper leak and other examination malpractices. SIO has been vocal in demanding a comprehensive investigation into these claims. The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for July 8th, as SIO continues to push for thorough scrutiny and accountability.
