New Delhi, Sep 6: A high-level delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), led by its President Syed Sadatullah Husaini, held a detailed meeting with Shri Jagdambika Pal, Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Waqf Bill to discuss the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 here Friday. The meeting also saw the active participation of Prof. Salim Engineer and S. Aminul Hasan, Vice Presidents of JIH.
Syed Sadatullah Husaini played a pivotal role in the discussions, emphasizing the critical importance of safeguarding the rights and interests of the Muslim community concerning Waqf properties. He voiced significant concerns regarding certain provisions of the proposed amendments, particularly their potential impact on the management and autonomy of these religious and cultural assets.
Prof. Salim Engineer supplemented Husaini’s concerns with in-depth insights into the technical and legal aspects of the bill, contributing to a robust exchange of ideas. The delegation stressed the need for amendments that protect the community’s ability to manage Waqf properties without compromising their significance.
Shri Jagdambika Pal attentively listened to the points raised by the JIH leaders. He assured the delegation that the committee would carefully consider all perspectives before finalizing its recommendations.
This meeting is part of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s broader initiative, led by Syed Sadatullah Husaini, to actively engage with lawmakers and stakeholders, ensuring that legislative changes do not undermine the community’s rights.
JIH leaders across India are meeting with different members of JPC and soon the JIH Central delegation will have one more meeting with the entire JPC at Delhi.
