Bengaluru, Jan. 25: To cultivate informed civic leaders and promote youth engagement in civic and political leadership, Solidarity Youth Movement (SYM) organized the Yuva Leadership Unplugged (YLU) workshop here Sunday and Monday. Held at Indian Social Institute, the event revolved around the theme, “Youth Engagement in Civic and Political Leadership.”
Labeed Shafi, SYM Karnataka President said YLU Civic and Political Leadership Incubator Program, aims to cultivate individuals actively involved in gram panchayat, ward-level management, and town and village administration to elevate governance practices.
Shafi further said participants immersed themselves in a comprehensive blend of theoretical discussions, practical exercises, and on-field activities. The program provided a valuable overview of the political system, public policy, and public administration. SYM’s commitment to equipping candidates with essential skills in public policy analysis, municipal administration, political landscape understanding, election dynamics, and other pertinent knowledge was evident throughout the workshop.
The program featured distinguished figures, such as Naseer Ahmed (MLC), Rizwan Arshad (MLA), Mohammad Mohsin IAS, Abdussalam Puthige (Chief Editor Varthabharathi), Dr. Narayana A (Senior Journalist); Dr. Vasu HV, Dr. Abdul Razak, Mehdi Kalim and Irshad Koppal (Social Activists); Maaz Salman Maniyar (SYM Karnataka General Secretary), etc.
In his concluding address, Labeed Shafi emphasized the important role played by youth in shaping the nation and underscored the pivotal role of empowered youth in shaping the future of civic and political leadership.
