Telangana Govt. Makes Elaborate Arrangements for Muharram

Hyderabad, June 28: The Telangana government will make elaborate arrangements for the peaceful and smooth observance of Muharram in Hyderabad.

Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday reviewed the arrangements for Muharrum. The meeting was attended by government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir, officials of various departments and Shia leaders.

Prabhakar underlined the need for coordination among various departments involved in the arrangements for the annual event. He asked police to deploy pickets near Ashoor Khanas. He asked departments concerned to complete drainage and road repair works immediately and install high mass lights.

The minister asked the electricity department to install special lights for the annual procession. The water board officials were directed to make arrangements for water supply. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will undertake sanitation work.

Prabhakar asked police officials to ensure that there are no traffic problems during the Muharrum procession. Police officials were also asked to make tight security arrangements during Bibi Ka Alam procession.

Mohammed Ali Shabbir directed departments concerned to provide all facilities to those who visit Ashoor Khanas on the occasion of Muharrum. Mini buses will be operated for their convenience. Health camps will be organised while ambulances will be kept ready as a precautionary measure.

AIMIM MLA Mirza Riyazul Hasan Afandi, Mirza Rehmat Baig, MLAs Jaffer Hussain Meraj, Kausar Mohiuddin, Mir Zulfekhar Ali, secretary, minorities welfare Tafseer Iqbal, Wakf Board chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini, Minority Finance Corporation chairman Obaidullah Kotwal and others attended the meeting.
