Tension in Mallepally over Mosque Land Dispute; AIMIM MLA Majid Hussain Leads Protest

Hyderabad – Tension gripped Mallepally on Wednesday afternoon following a protest led by All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Majid Hussain over a dispute concerning the land of Masjid-e-Ibrahim, reported the Munisif Daily.
The situation escalated after an advocate reportedly claimed ownership of the land on which the mosque is built. Acting upon a court case filed by the advocate, government officials visited the mosque, sparking concern among local residents.
As news of the visit spread, a crowd gathered near the mosque premises. MLA Majid Hussain soon joined the protest, standing in solidarity with the local community. He also offered prayers at the mosque during the demonstration. Slogans were raised as the protest intensified, prompting authorities to deploy a heavy police force to maintain law and order.
Speaking to the media, Majid Hussain stated that AIMIM workers had remained at the site overnight to prevent any untoward developments. He assured the public that steps were being taken to secure a stay order from the court and that all necessary documents were being submitted to uphold the mosque’s status.
The incident has reignited concerns over attempts to encroach upon or legally challenge existing mosque properties in Hyderabad, drawing attention to the need for stronger legal protection of Waqf lands.
