Tension in Moradabad after Muslim Man Dies Following Cow Slaughter Allegations

Moradabad: Tensions erupted in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh after a 29-year-old Muslim man, Shahid Din, was beaten to death by a mob over alleged involvement in cow slaughter. The incident occurred late Monday night, and police forces have been deployed to maintain peace in the area, especially in Muslim-majority neighbourhoods.

As per Times of India, Shahid Din, along with three companions, was reportedly caught by locals near Mandi Samiti Chowki, where they were allegedly attempting to slaughter a cow. While his companions managed to flee, Shahid was apprehended by the mob. Eyewitnesses claim that the mob beat him with batons and rods. A video circulating on social media showed Shahid lying severely injured, with blood covering his body and unable to move.

According to Moradabad’s Additional Superintendent of Police (City), Kumar Ran Vijay Singh, the mob found a cow carcass at the scene. The incident took place at around 3:30 AM on Monday when locals allegedly caught Shahid and his companions. Shahid was then rushed to the district hospital but was declared dead shortly after midnight.

The police have sent the body for autopsy, and Shahid’s family performed his burial on Tuesday morning. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and efforts are being made to identify those responsible for the attack.

The incident has raised concerns over increasing communal tensions in the region, especially given the sensitive nature of cow-related allegations.
