New Delhi: The 32nd anniversary issue of the monthly “Al-Shifa” was released at the office of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), located in Daryaganj here. The issue was released by renowned social activist and Secretary General of Institute for Social Harmony, Lucknow, Mr. Mohammad Khalid. On this occasion, he remarked that the relationship between Urdu and medical science is long-standing, and for a significant period, MBBS education at Osmania University was conducted in the Urdu language. He further stated that Urdu is a language of brotherhood and love in society. “Al-Shifa” is a very popular domestic, social, and medical magazine published in Urdu.
On this occasion, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Secretary General, AIUTC stated that “Al-Shifa” is a unique Urdu magazine focused on public health. Completing thirty-one years of publication is a major achievement in today’s times. Generally, the attitude of Urdu speakers toward their own language is quite disappointing, despite the fact that the number of Urdu-speaking people runs into millions. In such scenario, the decline in reading and writing Urdu is alarming. He further emphasised that public representatives must step forward to promote Urdu, as this most popular Indian language will only receive its rightful place when public figures commit to fulfilling their responsibilities.
Also present at the occasion and expressing their thoughts were Dr. (Mufti) Javed Anwar Dehlavi, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Dr. Ghiyasuddin Siddiqui, Dr. Mohammad Arif Saifi, Mohammad Owais Gorakhpuri, Hakim Aftab Alam, Syed Ijaz Hussain, and Mohammad Imran Kanauji, among others.
