The Independence Day Means Prosperity of Every Individual, Say Participants at AIUTC Delhi Public Meeting

New Delhi: Marking the 79th Independence Day, the All India Unani Tibbi Congress (Delhi) organised a grand programme at Beriwala Bagh here. Addressing the gathering, the General Secretary of All India Unani Tibbi Congress, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, said that “the true meaning of Independence Day is the prosperity of every individual in the country.”

He added that governance based on justice and the assurance of good health guarantees the well-being of all. While the establishment of large hospitals provides reassurance, it does not necessarily ensure satisfactory treatment. Similarly, the slogan of “nutritious food” is indeed encouraging, but the availability of adulteration-free food is far more crucial. Dr. Khan further emphasised that Unani doctors should be made available at the block level so that people can benefit from the centuries-old tried and tested Unani system of medicine.

Highlighting the state of Unani medicine in Delhi, the State President of AIUTC-Delhi, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, expressed hope that the step-motherly treatment given to Unani medicine in past decades would no longer continue. Senior Vice President of Delhi State, Dr. Mirza Asif Baig, remarked that the activities of AIUTC are commendable, particularly the regular and well-organised conduct of free Unani medical camps, which is a remarkable achievement.

Dr. Zakiuddin, former Deputy Director, Unani, CCRUM, said that disciplined and movement-oriented work creates impact, and the members and leaders associated with AIUTC deserve congratulations for this. Renowned social activist Abdul Basit Qazi attended as chief guest and, in his remarks, shed light on the Independence Day and our responsibilities.

Advocate Shan Jabeen Qazi, while speaking on the importance of Unani medicine in the present era, stressed that “we must go among the people and serve them.”  She highlighted the urgent need to raise awareness about health among the public and elites alike, especially through free Unani medical camps.

Dr. Uzair Baqai stressed the importance of providing quality medicines to the people, saying that in order to maintain public trust, the process of medicine manufacturing should strictly adhere to GMP standards. On this occasion, several useful proposals for the promotion of Unani medicine were adopted.

Other speakers included Dr. Mufti Javed Anwar Dehlvi, Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, and Dr. Faheem Malik. Prominent participants present were Dr. Ehsan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Faizan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Shehnaz Parveen, Dr. Khursheed Alam, Dr. Abdul Majeed, Dr. Athar Mehmood, Dr. Shakeel Hapudi, Hakim Aftab Alam, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, Nadeem Arif, and Mohammad Imran Kanauji, among others.

The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Hakim Maulana Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi.
