Three-Day International Research Scholars Seminar on Ghalib Concludes at Ghalib Institute

New Delhi: The prestigious Ghalib Institute successfully concluded its three-day International Research Scholars Seminar on Ghalib. The final day of the seminar featured four significant sessions. The first session was presided over by Prof. Syed Akhtar Hussain, former Head of the Persian Department at Jawaharlal Nehru University. In his presidential address, Prof. Hussain emphasized that repeating previously stated ideas does not constitute research. He advised research scholars, who are entering the fields of writing, teaching, and publication, to ensure their work introduces something new and original.

In this session, several papers were presented on diverse topics. Ms. Rani Hafeez discussed Hindustan in the Mirror of Khulasat-ul-Tawarikh, Mr. Hashmat Ali presented a paper on The Na’atiya Poetry of Mufti Muhammad Anees Alam Anees, Ms. Rabia Tabrez spoke on Ahmad Jamal Pasha as an Editor, Ms. Ghausia Kauser discussed The Current State of Short Stories in Rajasthan, Ms. Ghazala Sheereen explored Literary Criticism in Indo-Persian Literature, and Mr. Syed Anwara Safi presented a paper on The Persian Contributions of Hazrat Shah Ali Anwar Qalandar. The session was moderated by Mr. Muhammad Mustafa.

The second session was presided over by Dr. Arshad Al-Qadri, who shared his emotional connection with the seminar, recounting that he had presented his first paper in this very seminar. He praised the seminar for its role in nurturing scholarly research and intellectual development. During this session, the book Talib Rampuri: In the Eyes of Scholars, compiled by Advocate M. Raees Farooqui, was released by prominent figures in Urdu literature, including Prof. Khwaja Muhammad Ikramuddin, Dr. Idrees Ahmad, Dr. Arshad Al-Qadri, Advocate Imran Malik Kairanvi, and Mr. Azhar Hussain Ansari.

Notable papers presented in the second session included An Overview of the Study of Humanities by Ms. Mandana Khaladoz Muhammadi from Iran, The Significance and Importance of Research by Ms. Huda Ali from Syria, The History of Kashmir by Hasan bin Ali by Ms. Fatima Syed Madani, The Relevance of History and Its Analysis by Mr. Abdul Muhaymin Qadri, The Restoration of Human Rights in Progressive Poetry by Mr. Noorul Zaman, and The Ghazal Universe of Khalilur Rahman Aazmi by Mr. Ahmed Hassan. This session was moderated by Dr. Abdul Razzaq Zayadi.

The third session, chaired by Dr. Mehtab Jahan, saw papers on various subjects presented by Ms. Mahboob Bee, Ms. Syeda Maryam Ilahi, Ms. Nihan, Mr. Imamuddin Imam, and Mr. Muhammad Azam. The session was coordinated by Ms. Azmat-un-Nisa.

The fourth and final session was presided over by Prof. Abubakar Abbad, who in his concluding remarks highlighted the skill required in presenting papers at such seminars. He advised scholars to balance their presentations, ensuring that the main subject is not overshadowed by lengthy introductions. In this session, Ms. Sunbul Sabiha presented a paper on The Novel Writing of Ghazanfar, Ms. Shagufta Nazneen spoke on The Rubaiyat of Alqama Shibli in the Light of Chahar Aina, and Mr. Shaukat Ali presented a paper on Some Humorous Poems of Zafar Kamali. The session was moderated by Mr. Misbahuddin.

In his closing address, Dr. Idrees Ahmad, Director of the Ghalib Institute, extended his gratitude to all the presenters, session chairs, moderators, and participants, thanking them for their valuable contributions to the seminar’s success.
