Pune: A three-day “Mathematics and Science Workshop,” jointly organized by the Maharashtra Markazi Taleemi Board and the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), concluded at the Islamic Information Centre, Kondhwa. The program aimed at equipping teachers with modern scientific teaching practices and drew participation from 65 educators across 15 districts of Maharashtra.
The inaugural session was attended by Board Secretary Syed Tanveer, Patron Maulana Ilyas Falahi, Chairman Aziz Mohiuddin, City Convener Tajammul, and the iRiSE team. In his address, Syed Tanveer underlined the importance of strengthening teachers’ skills to meet contemporary educational needs.
Expert resource persons guided participants through sessions on innovative methods in Mathematics and Science, project-based learning, and practical classroom strategies. Male and female teachers engaged in hands-on activities designed to enhance their teaching capacity and classroom delivery.
On the final day, a field visit to IISER provided exposure to advanced laboratories and live demonstrations, offering participants direct experience with scientific research. Contributions were made by educators including Jameel from Aurangabad, Suhas from Jalna, and Raja Patel from Nanded, along with technical officers Zahida Sheikh and Pallavi from IISER.
To evaluate outcomes, a three-member review committee observed the participants’ performance. Two teachers were honored with the Best Participant Award: Mohammad Qasim Mohammad Hanif from Jamia-tul-Huda, Malegaon, and Sheikh Asma Abdul Aziz from Pune College.
The initiative received strong appreciation for bridging teachers with modern scientific pedagogy and contributing to the broader development of education in the state.
