Tonk Hosts Inaugural Quran Recitation and Azaan Competition

Tonk: The first-ever Quran recitation and Azaan competition concluded at Shahi Jama Masjid, Bada Kuan, Amirganj, on Sunday. Participants from various districts showcased their skills in the spiritual competition, with 23-year-old Sahil securing first place in Azaan category, and Qari Farhan emerging as top performer in Quran recitation.

The competition, organized by Muhibban Ashiqine Quran Karim Committee, saw 36 participants vying for the top spots – 12 in Azaan category and 24 in Quran recitation. Sahil, son of Sabir Miyan from Kali Paltan, won the district’s first-ever Azaan competition. Abdul Asim from Madrasa Taha Pahadiya and Mohammad Shoaib from Madrasa Ahsanul Uloom Bahir claimed the second and third places, respectively.

In Quran recitation competition, Qari Farhan, son of Mohammad Salim and a student of Madrasa Ameenul Uloom Islamia, secured the first position. Mohammad Maz from Madrasa Alia Furqania and Abdullah Shuraim from Madrasa Markazul Uloom were awarded second and third places, respectively. Winners received prizes and mementos.

Final round of the competition took place at Jama Masjid, Bada Kuan, hosted by Mufti Mohammad Adil Nadwi. Esteemed judges included Sadiq Gangoh, Kari Izharul Haq Gangapur, and Kari Umar Farooq Phalodi. The event was presided over by Maulvi Saeed, who led prayers, while Dr. Azam Baig addressed the audience.

Prominent figures, including Councillor Qazi Imaduddin, Hafiz Jahuruddin, Qari Naveed, and Qari Nafis, were in attendance. Religious scholars such as Mufti Zaakir Jaipur, Hafiz Farhatullah, and Mufti Islahuddin Khizar also appreciated the event.

Tonk is recognized as a hub for religious education, attracting scholars and students from across the nation and beyond. Its reputation for producing excellence in religious studies, particularly in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian languages, continues to thrive.

The competition began with an audition round at Madarsa Furqania on October 10, under the supervision of Maulvi Mohammad Saeed, Imam of Shahi Jama Masjid. Of 47 participants, the top 12 Azaan performers were selected for the final round based on criteria such as the accuracy and method of Azaan. Judges for the audition round included Mufti Islahuddin Khizar and Kari Minhaj, with Maulvi Saeed presiding over the event.
