13 August 2024: In a horrifying incident, the post-mortem report of a trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has uncovered disturbing details. The report reveals that the young woman was subjected to severe “genital torture” before being killed, reports India Today.
The four-page document, cited by India Today, indicates that the victim’s private parts bore deep wounds inflicted by “perverted sexuality” and “genital torture.” The gruesome crime took place between 3 am and 5 am on August 9, according to police reports.
The victim was strangled before being smothered to death. The post-mortem findings show that her thyroid cartilage was fractured due to the strangulation, and injuries were also found on her abdomen, lips, fingers, and left leg. Additionally, the report noted that her mouth and throat were forcefully pressed to prevent her from screaming, and her glasses were shattered, with shards piercing her eyes.
The trainee doctor was discovered dead inside the seminar hall of the hospital, where she had gone to take a rest after her meal during her night duty. Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer and member of a welfare unit of the Kolkata Police, has been arrested in connection with the crime.
The incident has sparked outrage among the medical community. Junior doctors at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have raised questions about why West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has given a seven-day deadline to solve the case. They have vowed to continue their strike until their demands for justice are met. Banerjee has also stated that if the police do not resolve the case by the deadline, it will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The case has sent shockwaves across the state, with demands for swift justice and accountability.
