Transparency and Honesty have been Salient Features of JIH Finance: Yousuf Kanni

Bengaluru, July 8: A day-long training session was held for the people in charge of financial affairs and accounting in local units of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka here Saturday.

Reminding the audience of the meager resources with which the organization was launched in 1941, Mohammed Yousuf Kanni, the Jamaat’s state secretary said since day one transparency and honesty have been the salient features of finance of the Jamaat; even the critics show trust in Jamaat.

For an overall understanding of the local units 20 selected units’ representatives drew a picture of the Baitulmal – rate of contributions from the cadre, donations, and major heads of expenditure. The Zonal Secretary Mohammed Bilal made his observations, giving tips for improving the quality of performance.

Chartered Accountant and convenor of the Jamaat Audit Committee Ishaq Puttur explained the legal issues related to accounts and audit. Another member of the Audit Committee Mahaboob Ganiyar gave tips of maintaining Day Book, Vouchers and Receipts in a proper manner.

Dr. Belgaumi Mohammed Saad, JIH Karnataka president, advised the local unit heads about both Income Tax compliance and Shariah compliance in financial transactions and accounting procedures. He asked them to uphold the core values of Jamaat like honesty, carefulness and transparency. He also advised them to utilize all the funds in the budgetary allocations and see that no surplus amount remains at the end of the financial year, but for emergencies.

State Advisory Council member Mohamed Atherulla Shariff, also spoke on the occasion. The event commenced with Quranic discourse by Moulana Iqbal Qasmi, earlier. Heads of around 35 major local units attended the programme.
