Washington — A Palestinian rights advocate, who had been detained for over a year in the United States, has been released after what he described as “inhumane and degrading” treatment while in custody. The activist, who had openly voiced support for Palestine, said he was “chained like an animal” and subjected to conditions that reduced him to a “subhuman state.”, reported the Madhyamam.
Speaking after his release, the detainee recounted how he was frequently moved between detention centers, often held in solitary confinement, and denied basic medical care. He alleged that his arrest and harsh treatment were politically motivated, aimed at silencing pro-Palestinian voices in the U.S.
Human rights groups have condemned the detention as a violation of freedom of expression and due process. Legal experts say his prolonged incarceration without formal charges raised serious constitutional questions.
The activist’s legal team is now pursuing a case against the authorities for unlawful detention and mistreatment. The case has reignited debate over the treatment of political activists, especially those supporting causes viewed as controversial by American authorities.
