Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for diverting attention from crucial issues such as electricity, business, and employment by focusing on religious matters. He emphasized that being a yogi is not about external attire but is defined by one’s thoughts and actions, reported the ANI.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “The fundamental problems in this state revolve around electricity, business, jobs, and employment. This government’s strategy is to avoid addressing these core concerns by instead raising religious questions. A person does not become a yogi by his clothes but by his thoughts and work.”
On Saturday, Yadav pointed to official statistics indicating that Uttar Pradesh has one of the worst law and order situations in the country. Addressing the media after attending an Iftar gathering in Lucknow, he claimed that the state lacks proper governance.
“Whether it’s Prayagraj or any other district, the government refuses to acknowledge it, but their own data confirms that Uttar Pradesh has the worst law and order situation. There is no one to look after the state,” Yadav stated.
Further intensifying his criticism, Yadav on Wednesday targeted the BJP government, arguing that the past eight years have severely hindered Kannauj’s development. He cited a case where the Uttar Pradesh Police was compelled to file an FIR against an IAS officer within its own ranks, questioning the administration’s handling of corruption.
“These past eight years have isolated Kannauj from progress. When the BJP completed eight years in power, the Uttar Pradesh Police itself had to take action against one of its own IAS officers,” he remarked.
He also questioned the government’s transparency, claiming that this is the first administration where even ruling party MLAs feel sidelined.
