Turkish Havelsan and Egyptian Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) signed a deal to start sales of their jointly developed Hamza-1 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), said an Anadolu report.
The contract was finalised during the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, marking a new milestone in the two firms’ collaboration. The deal followed a cooperation agreement signed in August 2025 to establish the framework to manufacture vertical take-off and landing drones in Egypt.
Havelsan’s autonomous systems engineering and AOI’s localised manufacturing infrastructure were combined in the making of the Hamza-1 platform. Havelsan drew upon its technological expertise developed in its own domestic drone platforms, including the Baha, Bozbey, Poyraz and Bulut drones. The initial prototype of the Hamza-1 was unveiled at the EDEX defense expo in Cairo late last year.
The joint partnership expects to start delivering the Hamza-1 drone to end-users after the newly signed commercial deal. The successful commercialisation of the platform also highlights the growing defence cooperation between Türkiye and Egypt, alongside Havelsan’s global co-production strategy.
