Twin Sisters from Surat Score Identical Marks in MBBS, Aspire to Study Postgraduate Together

Ahmedabad– In a heartwarming tale of determination, sisterhood, and academic brilliance, 24-year-old twin sisters Riba and Rahin Hafezji from Surat have achieved a rare feat — scoring identical marks in their final MBBS examinations. Both graduated with 935 marks (66.8%) from GMERS Medical College, Vadodara, marking a memorable milestone in their shared journey toward becoming doctors, reported the Times of India.
Raised by a single mother, Gulshad Banu, who is also a teacher, the sisters faced financial hardships but never wavered from their shared goal: becoming the first doctors in their immediate family. Their journey was supported by government scholarships and merit-based aid, which helped them complete their education without undue financial burden.
“We have always studied together and supported each other. From school to MBBS, our paths have been the same,” said Rahin. The sisters have consistently performed at par, with Riba in the 99th percentile and Rahin in the 98.5th in Class 10. They continued the trend in Class 12 and again in NEET-UG, where both scored in the 97th percentile range—without the help of coaching institutes.
At GMERS Gotri campus, the duo shared the same hostel room and attended classes together. They chose Vadodara over other government colleges like Jamnagar or Bhavnagar to stay close to home and remain together.
Their mother and maternal grandparents have been their pillars of strength. “Their support made this possible. We wanted to fulfil their dream by becoming doctors,” said Riba.
Belonging to the Sindhi Jamaati community, where few women pursue medicine, the sisters take pride in representing their roots. While Rahin wishes to specialise in obstetrics and gynaecology, Riba is inclined towards internal medicine. Yet, they hope to secure admission in the same institution for their postgraduate studies as well.
“Throughout this journey, we’ve had the support of family, community, and scholarships. Now it’s our turn to give back by serving the people,” said Riba, reflecting on the bond and purpose that keep the sisters united.
Their story is not just about identical scores, but about the power of resilience, unity, and shared dreams.
