Two-Day National Conference of Idara Adab-e-Islami Maharashtra Concludes in Solapur

(Launch of Matin Achalpuri’s Poetry Collection “Madhat-e-Sahaba”)
Solapur: The 19th Annual National Conference of Idara Adab-e-Islami Maharashtra, titled “The State of Society and the Role of Literature,” was successfully held on February 1-2 at the Department of Urdu, SSA College, Solapur, in collaboration with the institution. The event was presided over by Dr. Saleem Khan, vice president of Idara Adab-e-Islami Hind.
The inaugural session took place at 10 AM on February 1. During the session, Dr. Kaleem Zia was honored with the Hafeez Meerthi Award for his outstanding contributions to poetry, while Dr. Ghaznfar Iqbal received the Ismat Javed Award for his significant contributions to prose. Both awards included a cash prize of ₹30,000, a memento, a certificate of appreciation, and a shawl. Additionally, the poetic work Madhat-e-Sahaba by Matin Achalpuri was launched. The poet’s son, Mohammad Mukarram, was present at the event.
The welcome address was delivered by Professor Maqbool Ahmed Maqbool, president of Idara Adab-e-Islami Maharashtra. Distinguished guests included Bashir Parwaz, president of Bazm-e-Ghalib; Professor I. J. Tamboli, principal of SSA College; and Dr. Ismail Sheikh, ameer-e-maqami of Jamaat-e-Islami. The event was moderated by Idara’s secretary, Fareed Moanis, while Professor Mohammad Shafi Chobdar delivered the vote of thanks.
The first technical session, titled “Politics and Economy,” was chaired by Dr. Faheemuddin Ahmed from Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad. Papers were presented by Masihuddin Abu Nabil, Khan Hasnain Aqib, Dr. Ghaus Ahmed, Dr. Danish Ghani, and Dr. Hajra Parveen.
The second session, focusing on “Human Rights and Issues,” was presided over by Professor Maqbool Ahmed Maqbool. Papers were presented by Dr. Faheemuddin Ahmed, Dr. Ghaznfar Iqbal, Dr. Qureshi Atiq Ahmed, Mohammad Yousuf Rahim, and Dr. Syed Aleemullah Husaini.
The third session, “Women and Youth,” was chaired by Professor Chobdar Mohammad Shafi. Papers were presented by Dr. Samiuddin, Mohammad Asrar, Dr. A. A. Bijapure, and Dr. Samiya Baghban.
The fourth session was dedicated to Hindi and Marathi scholars, with Sarfaraz Ahmed Sheikh presiding. Papers were presented by Dr. Rajendra Wadge, Dr. I. J. Tamboli, Dr. Devidas Gaikwad, Dr. Bhagwan Adatrao, and Dr. Subhash Vardhman Shastri.
The fifth session was a fiction reading, chaired by Dr. Noorul Hasnain. Short stories were read by Dr. Azeem Rahi, Masihuddin Abu Nabil, Dr. Haroon Rasheed Baghban, and Yousuf Rahim.
The sixth session was dedicated to research scholars and was presided over by Dr. Ghaus Ahmed. Participants included Noor Mohammad Barkati, Samreen Shafiq, Chobdar Sadaf, Abdul Hanan, Ghazala Rizwan Shah, Mohammad Haris Shah, Farooqi Mohammad Abdul Salam, and Mohammad Asif.
The concluding session was chaired by Dr. Saleem Khan, with special guests Dr. Noorul Hasnain and Syed Zameer Qadri, assistant ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra. A condolence resolution was passed in memory of the esteemed poet, critic, and writer Tabish Mehdi, acknowledging his irreplaceable loss to Idara Adab-e-Islami. The resolution was read by Aslam Ghazi.
On the evening of February 1, an All India Mushaira was held at Social High School under the chairmanship of Dr. Rauf Khair from Hyderabad. Guest poets included Dr. Kaleem Zia, Aslam Ghazi, Javed Nadeem from Mumbai, Tahir Gulshan Abadi, Masihuddin Abu Nabil from Hyderabad, Maqbool Ahmed Maqbool from Udgir, Khan Hasnain Aqib from Pusad, Meer Bedari from Bidar, Wajid Akhtar Siddiqui from Gulbarga, Momin Bijapuri from Bijapur, Fareed Moanis from Akot, Manan Azeem from Degloor, and Munawwar Hussain from Ahmednagar. Local poets Bashir Parwaz, Arzoo Rajasthani, Abdul Wahab Jamil, Shafiuddin Shafi Shattari, Nasiruddin Nasir Ashrafi, Irfan Karigar, Asif Iqbal, and Najmuddin Anjum also recited their poetry. The session was hosted by Khan Hasnain Aqib, with initial moderation by Sohail Ansari from Nagpur.
A large number of participants attended the two-day conference and mushaira, playing a crucial role in its success. The local unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Solapur, led by Dr. Ismail, made significant contributions to organizing the event. The Department of Urdu, SSA College, under the guidance of Shafi Chobdar and other members, also provided valuable support.
