Aligarh: Two new scholarships have been instituted at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in the name of “Ashraf Sulaiman and Shehnaz Sharique” with a generous donation of Rs. 2,00,000 by Ms. Seema Shoeb, wife of Prof Mohammad Shoeb (Retd), Department of Physics.
The Vice Chancellor has formally accepted the donation and approved the institution of the scholarships for implementation from the academic session 2024-25.
A scholarship of Rs. 4000 will be conferred upon a male and a female school student respectively, based on merit in the High School Examination conducted by AMU.
These scholarships are specifically intended for the wards of AMU employees – including permanent, temporary, and daily wage staff – whose annual income does not exceed six lakh rupees. Eligible students must be enrolled in schools managed and administered by AMU in Aligarh.
Applications for the scholarships will be submitted through the respective school principals to the Director, Directorate of School Education (DOSE), along with required documents including mark sheets and income proof, and the Director will constitute a committee to evaluate the applications and recommend deserving candidates.
