Krishna Lal Narang Saqi’s Contribution to Urdu Language and Literature is Unforgettable, Say Speakers
New Delhi: The Urdu Development Organisation organised a condolence meeting at the Urdu Book Review office in Daryaganj to pay tribute to the renowned litterateur and Urdu enthusiast Krishna Lal Narang Saqi.
On the occasion, Urdu Book Review editor Mohammad Arif Iqbal said that K.L. Narang Saqi was a true lover of the Urdu language. He dedicated his entire life to serving Urdu language and literature, as well as supporting Urdu poets and writers. Despite old age and physical frailty, he always made every possible effort to participate in programs related to Urdu.
He further noted that Narang Saqi maintained close relationships with many distinguished writers and poets from both India and Pakistan. According to him, clear evidence of these literary associations can be found in the book Mashahir ke Khutoot Narang Saqi Ke Naam (Letters from Eminent Personalities to Narang Saqi), edited by Dr. Saifi Sarwanji.
Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, National President of the Urdu Development Organisation, stated that in recognition of Krishna Lal Narang Saqi’s literary contributions, he was honoured with the Kunwar Mahendra Singh Bedi World Urdu Day Award on November 9 last year, on the occasion of World Urdu Day. He added that Narang Saqi consistently provided financial support and patronage to various Urdu journals and magazines throughout his life.
Dr. Khan said that personalities like Narang Saqi are rare in the world of Urdu. He was particularly known for his hospitality toward writers and poets. Numerous prominent poets and literary figures from India and Pakistan benefited from his generous hospitality. His services to Urdu language and literature, he said, can never be forgotten.
He also mentioned that Narang Saqi’s two well-known books, Adeebon Ke Latife and Khush Kalamiyan Qalamkaron Ki, continue to enjoy immense popularity among lovers of literature.
