UDO Writes to Prime Minister Seeking Early Constitution of NCPUL

NCUPL body should be constituted so that the administrative structure becomes fully functional and ongoing efforts for the promotion of the Urdu language can be carried forward swiftly and effectively: Dr Syed Ahmad Khan

New Delhi: The Urdu Development Organisation (UDO) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the early constitution of the body of the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).

Speaking on the issue, Dr Syed Ahmad Khan, National President of the Urdu Development Organisation, said that the delay in constituting the Council has adversely affected the development and promotion of the Urdu language. The primary objective of the letter is to improve the functioning of the NCPUL and to accelerate projects aimed at promoting Urdu. He said that these objectives can be achieved effectively only when the Council is duly constituted.

Highlighting the importance and relevance of the Urdu language, Dr Khan stated that Urdu originated in India and flourished here. Over time, its popularity has grown immensely, and even today Urdu remains a language loved by people from all walks of life. He added that Urdu has been accepted in every era not only at the official level but also among the masses as a language of love and culture.

He further said that the NCPUL was established to promote and develop Urdu and function under the Ministry of Education. However, it is a matter of serious concern that for the past three years neither has a Vice-Chairperson been appointed nor has the Council been properly constituted, due to which it has not been able to function fully.

“We demand that the NCPUL body be constituted at the earliest so that the administrative structure becomes fully operational and the ongoing work for the promotion of the Urdu language can be carried forward in a swift and effective manner,” he said.

Dr Khan appealed to the Prime Minister to pay urgent attention to the reconstitution of the NCPUL in the larger public interest so that its activities can be resumed at the earliest. “We shall be grateful,” he added.
