Aligarh: The UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Aligarh Muslim University, organised an interactive session with Professor Edward Buckingham, Director of Engagements, Monash Business School, Monash University, Australia. The session brought together AMU – Monash LeAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme) participants for discussions on global education and academic collaborations.
During the interaction, Professor Buckingham emphasised the importance of AMU’s global relevance in higher education, highlighting its English-speaking faculty, cost-effective education, and exposure to international best practices. He described the experience of hosting the AMU-Monash team in Melbourne as enriching and expressed Monash Business School’s openness to future collaborations.
Joining the discussion, Professor Zafar Mehfooz Nomani, Officiating Vice-Chancellor, AMU, shared valuable insights on the growing internationalisation and revenue generation opportunities for Indian higher education institutions. He also recalled previous LeAP programmes conducted by UGC MMTTC at Ohio State University, USA, and Monash University, Australia.
Furthering the collaboration, Professor Ayesha Farooq, Dean, Faculty of Management, AMU, initiated discussions with Professor Buckingham on potential dual MBA programs with Monash University.
Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director, UGC MMTTC, AMU, highlighted that in 2020, UGC HRDC organised the prestigious Leadership for Academicians Programme under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme at Monash University, Melbourne. The programme included 21 senior professors from higher education institutions across India, with five representatives from AMU. She noted that Professor Edward Buckingham played a key role as the Resource Person and Organiser of the programme’s foreign leg at Monash University.
The session was attended by Professor Omar Farooq, Member AAC, UGC MMTTC AMU, along with AMU – Monash LeAP participants including Professor Izharul Farooqi, Professor Asma Ali, Professor Ikram Khan, and Professor Mirza Faisal Beg. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Arshad Husain.
