Ulama of Vijayapura have expressed their displeasure over the Congress party’s move to suspend Legislative Council member Abdul Jabbar and remove Nasir Ahmed from the post of Chief Minister’s Political Secretary.
Ulama, including Muhammad Yusuf Qazi, Muhammad Ikhtal Nadaf, Maulana Shafiula Muppi, Maulana Rizwan Tayyabi jointly held a press conference and expressed their deep displeasure that the Congress is showing indifference towards the minority community.
Ulama in Vijayapura district have expressed their displeasure over the removal of senior leader Nasir Ahmed from the post of Chief Minister’s Political Secretary and the suspension of Council member Abdul Jabbar. “We have been supporting the Congress party. But now the Congress party is ignoring our community,” they complained.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Yusuf Kazi said that the Ulema delegation had met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. They were demanding that a minority candidate be given a ticket in Davangere South constituency. In the 2023 elections, the promise made by L. Shamanur Shivashankarappa was reminded, but in the end, our society was cheated by giving tickets to his family members. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, L. Shamanur Shivashankarappa had given a speech asking people to vote for Yediyurappa’s son Raghavendra. He questioned why no action was taken against him.
Senior Muslim leader Naseer Ahmed has been removed from the post of political secretary to the Chief Minister. Council member Abdul Jabbar has resigned. All this is being blamed on the Congress.
