New York: Francesca Albanese has fiercely criticized former US President Donald Trump’s reported plans for Gaza, calling them “nonsense,” “unlawful,” and “worse than ethnic cleansing.” In a strongly worded statement, she warned that the proposal incites forced displacement – an international crime – and deepens Israel’s complicity in genocide.
“This is not just forced displacement; it is an escalation of an ongoing crime. It will worsen the regional crisis and further isolate the US on the global stage,” said Albanese. She urged the international community to take a principled stand against lawlessness and disengage from policies that violate human rights.
Highlighting the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, she described how Palestinians – many of them genocide survivors – are enduring relentless bombardment, sniper attacks, and deprivation of basic needs. “Children have been shot in the torso and head. People are living in tents without water, food, or dignified shelter,” she said.
Albanese also rejected the idea of external powers deciding Gaza’s future, asserting that only Palestinians have the right to determine how Gaza will be rebuilt. She called for urgent global intervention to rescue Gaza’s civilian population before discussing reconstruction.
