Unani Medicine Deprived of Progress after the Establishment of AYUSH Dept. in Delhi, Observes AIUTC-Delhi Meet

New Delhi: An important meeting of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (Delhi State) was held in Zakir Nagar, New Delhi. On this occasion, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Dr. Ghiyasuddin Siddiqui, Dr. Faizan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Mufti Javed Anwar Dehlavi, Dr. Athar Mahmood, Advocate Shaan Jabeen Qazi, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Hapuri, Dr. Faheem Malik, Hakim Muhammad Murtaza Dehlavi, Hakim Aftab Alam, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, and Muhammad Imran Kanauji, among others, participated. The event was graciously hosted by Dr. Ehsan Ahmad Siddiqui and Dr. Mirza Asif Baig.

The meeting discussed the current state of Unani medicine in Delhi. It was revealed that since the establishment of the AYUSH Department in Delhi, no significant progress has been made in relation to Unani medicine. Neither the central government nor the Delhi government has shown any genuine interest in promoting it. In contrast, for Ayurveda, both central and state governments have spent billions of rupees to establish two major institutes.

The A&U Tibbia College, founded by Hakim Ajmal Khan, continues to be under threat. Not even a basic effort has been made to build a museum on campus to showcase the historical contributions of Hakim Ajmal Khan and to benefit the younger generation. The meeting expressed hope for positive steps from the current Delhi government.
