Unfolding Allegations: Maulana Mahmood Madani and the Halal Certification Inquiry

New Delhi, April 14: Maulana Mahmood Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, is set to undergo further questioning by the UP-STF regarding allegations of issuing halal certificates through unlawful means. This summons comes after Eid, as reported by Amar Ujala Online.

It is understood that Maulana Madani was previously questioned by the STF for two days in February. Sources indicate that significant leads were uncovered following this questioning, which involved Maulana Madani and four other officials associated with the Halal Certification Trust.

Investigations have revealed financial transactions linked to halal certificate revenues being channeled into multiple companies, some of which are suspected to be shell companies.

Consequently, the STF has called Maulana Madani for additional interrogation. Notably, Maulana Madani also serves as the chairman of the trust affiliated with the halal institution.

Following the filing of the FIR in this matter, Maulana Madani, alongside Maulana Mudasser, Habib Yusuf Patel, Anwar Khan, and Mohammad Tahir, has been detained. All four arrested individuals are linked to the Halal Council of India.

In defense of Maulana Madani and the others implicated, individuals within the Muslim community argue that these allegations are baseless and politically motivated. They maintain that Maulana Madani’s activities in overseeing halal certification were conducted lawfully and with integrity, aiming to serve the needs of the Muslim community and uphold religious standards. The community stands firm in its support of Maulana Madani and his associates, expressing confidence in their innocence amidst these legal proceedings.
