Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Equates Hyderabad with Bangladesh

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar has once again made a controversial statement about Hyderabad as he compared the city with Bangladesh.

The MP from Karimnagar is known for making provocative comments and he is also accused of delivering hate speeches.

Terming Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar, he said that it is the responsibility of every party activist to save Bhagyanagar from being another Bangladesh. “Hindus are being attacked in Bangladesh while Hindu temples are being attacked in Bhagyanagar,” he said while addressing a public meeting organised by the BJP in Hyderabad to highlight what it calls the failures of Telangana’s Congress government during its first year in office.

Sanjay Kumar also urged the party cadres to work hard to achieve the target of having a BJP leader as Mayor of Hyderabad. “Let us move ahead with enthusiasm with the aim of securing the post of mayor for the BJP in the upcoming GHMC elections,” he said.

The Central minister also alleged that the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana is merely a “puppet in the hands of urban Naxals.” He claimed that the former Naxalites are part of the state Cabinet. He also remarked that individuals with Naxalite ideologies are being appointed on key positions, including the state education commission.

Stating that there is a conspiracy to radicalise Telangana’s youth and urged the public to choose between following the paths of nationalists like Sardar Patel and Veer Savarkar or Naxals.

This is not the first time that Bandi Sanjay has made controversial remarks about Hyderabad. In September he alleged that AIMIM has turned old city of Hyderabad into a stronghold of Rohingyas and terrorists.

Bandi Sanjay claimed that terrorists arrested anywhere in the country are found to be having links with the old city.

“Owaisi says we need to get their permission to enter the old city. The terrorists entered with their permission. Owaisi has turned the old city into a stronghold of Rohingyas and terrorists,” he said.

The BJP leader had alleged that AK-47 rifle training is being provided in Madrasas.

He had last year sparked a row with his demand for digging work at all mosques, saying there was a possibility of finding Shiva Lingams underneath.

He also stated that if BJP comes to power in Telangana, it will abolish all madrasas, do away with reservation for Muslims, and remove Urdu as the second official language.

Sanjay had also stated that he would demolish the domes of the Secretariat, once BJP comes to power in the state.

Bandi Sanjay slammed former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for building the domes. Stating that the domes don’t reflect the culture of Telangana, he alleged that this was done to please AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.

He has always maintained that the new secretariat looks like Taj Mahal which is a ‘samadhi’.

In February last year, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, as the then state BJP president, had said that if BJP comes to power in the state, it would demolish the domes of the new state Secretariat building as they reflect the culture of Nizams.
