New Delhi: The United Muslim of India has expressed disappointment over the Union Budget 2025-26, stating that it neglects the concerns of minorities. Reacting to the budget presented by the Finance Minister in Parliament, the organization’s honorary general secretary, Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, criticized the central government for failing to address the needs of minority communities.
Dr. Khan remarked that attempting to develop the country while disregarding a significant section of the population is nothing but an illusion. He pointed out that major institutions like the Central Minority Finance Development Corporation and the Maulana Azad Foundation have been rendered completely inactive. Citing the Sachar Committee report, he emphasized that it is an official government document that highlights the socio-economic condition of minorities, making it imperative to allocate special schemes and budgetary provisions for them.
He urged the central government to reassess the findings of the Sachar Committee report in a new light. “Just as the government intervenes in various issues concerning Muslims in the name of reforms, it should take concrete steps to ensure the educational, social, and economic upliftment of minorities, especially Muslims, through well-structured policies and sufficient budgetary allocations,” Dr. Khan asserted.
