Unsung Heroes of Chandrayaan Mission

– Dr. Shahnaz Begum

The mission Chandrayaan was possible only because our team of scientists and researchers not just made a wishful thinking but put in all their efforts to achieve their goal. In this incessant and untiring effort some names are well-known but some figure only as a slice of that team. It should be our endeavour to inform the proud Indian public about the achievement of those individual scientists who have put their heart and soul in this phenomenal event. One such name is Mohammad Adnan, son of late Iftekhar Ahmad, who was a Marketing Officer, FCI of India, Bihar State. He hails from Darbhanga, Bihar.

Adnan received his basic education at Darbhanga, first at Darsgah-e-Islami and then at Marwari Government High School, Darbhanga. He was a student of Millat College during his intermediate level. He received his B.E. degree from the reputed JMI, New Delhi. He has been working with ISRO, Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network, Bengaluru from 2008 (ISTRACK), Bengaluru, Karnataka. He also visited other countries like Norway and Mauritius in connection with the different mission projects. He was part of the Team for Chandrayan-2, Chandrayan-3 and for the Mission Orbitor Mars (MOM 1) launching. At present he is in the position of Scientist F.

We salute you Adnan and wish you all the best in life.

[The writer is Retired Professor, Department of English, Millat College, Darbhanga, Bihar.]
