UP Govt. Withholds Salaries of 2.5 Lakh Employees Over Non-Disclosure of Property Details

Lucknow, Sep 3: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a firm stance by withholding the salaries of 2.5 lakh state employees who failed to disclose their property details online. As per official reports, the salaries of 2,44,565 employees for the month of August have been held back due to non-compliance with the mandate. The government has now extended the deadline, giving employees one final month to update their property details online, reported the India TV News.

The directive required all state employees to upload information about their movable and immovable assets on the Manav Sampada Portal by August 31. However, only 71 percent of the workforce complied with this order. This rule aligns with similar requirements imposed on IAS, IPS, PPS, and PCS officers, making it compulsory for state employees to disclose their property details online.

Teachers, employees of corporations, and workers from autonomous institutions were exempt from this mandate.

In a letter issued by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh government, all department heads were instructed to ensure compliance with this order. It was emphasized that employees who fail to declare their assets by the deadline would face not only salary withholdings but also potential delays in promotions. The government had previously issued warnings, but the lack of a satisfactory response has led to this stringent action.

The current extension is widely seen as the final opportunity for non-compliant employees to meet the government’s requirements, with further consequences likely if they continue to ignore the directive.
