UP Temple Rejects Hindutva Groups’ Demand to Ban Muslim Workers

In a significant stance against divisive demands, the management of a prominent temple in Uttar Pradesh has rejected calls from Hindutva groups to ban Muslim workers from participating in temple-related work, reported the Madhyamam.
The temple authorities emphasized that workers are chosen based on their skills, not their religion. They stated that such decisions are made in the interest of service and maintenance, and not to cater to communal sentiments. The temple trust underscored that many Muslim workers have been engaged in the temple’s upkeep for years and have always fulfilled their duties with dedication.
This rejection comes in response to pressure from certain right-wing groups who insisted that Muslim workers be removed from temple premises. However, the temple committee firmly refused to entertain such discriminatory demands, asserting that temples are places of devotion and service, not platforms for hatred and division.
The decision has been widely appreciated by many as a strong message in favor of secular values and social harmony in a time when religious polarization is on the rise.
