New Delhi, August 7, 2024: A meeting of the Urdu Development Organization, presided over by senior journalist Jalaluddin Aslam, was held in Joshi Colony here to review preparations for the upcoming Global Urdu Day. Celebrated annually on November 9, the birth anniversary of the renowned poet Allama Iqbal, the event honors the contributions to the Urdu language.
The organization plans to release a commemorative magazine focused on the life and works of distinguished Urdu journalist and scholar Maulana Imdad Sabri. Senior journalist and writer Masoom Moradabadi has been entrusted with the task of compiling and editing this special edition.
In addition to the magazine, selected writers and journalists from across the country will be awarded for their dedication to the promotion of Urdu. The recipients of this year’s Global Urdu Day Awards will be announced soon after a meeting of the award committee.
The meeting saw the participation of notable figures such as Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan, Masoom Moradabadi, Dr. Abu Zaid Azmi, Zafar Anwar Shakarpuri, and Niaz Ahmed Raja. The attendees urged government-supported Urdu institutions, particularly state Urdu academies, to observe Global Urdu Day on November 9 and to promote the Urdu script.
