New Delhi: Education plays a vital role in shaping human behaviour, and just as learning is essential for personal growth, learning the Urdu language is equally important for developing sweetness, politeness, and refinement in speech, said renowned career and guidance counsellor and teacher Arshad Chaudhary Jamiawala in a special conversation.
He emphasised that India is the cradle of Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb – a land where many languages are spoken and taught, reflecting the country’s cultural diversity and beauty. Referring to the recent admissions at CM Shri School, he noted that students have been given the option to choose a third language. He urged students and parents to opt for Urdu as their third language, explaining that doing so would not only promote the language but also nurture values of adab (courtesy), tehzeeb (culture), and saqaafat (heritage) among students. These qualities, he said, play a key role in a child’s overall development.
Meanwhile, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, President of the Urdu Development Organisation, stated that “Urdu is not just a language but a complete civilization in itself.” He appealed to parents to encourage their children to study Urdu, especially at the school level, emphasising that while most children today learn English and other languages, they often neglect Urdu.
Dr. Khan further said that school education forms the foundation of a child’s learning journey, and introducing Urdu from an early stage helps children develop eloquence, refinement, and communication skills. He reminded that Urdu was born in India and has always been close to the hearts of its people, remaining an integral part of their daily lives and cultural identity.
