USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque Sent to Judicial Custody Again

Karimganj: University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque has once again been sent to judicial custody after being presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Sribhumi district on March 1.
Sources confirmed that Hoque was taken from Karimganj Sadar Police Station to Karimganj Civil Hospital for a medical examination before being produced in court at around 5 pm on Saturday.
Hoque was earlier remanded to four days of police custody on February 25, along with five other accused—Hiramani Saikia, Bijoy Dutta, Rezzak Ali, Numaan Ahmed, and Imdadur Rahman. After completing their police custody, all of them were presented before the court on March 1.
Hoque and co-accused Numaan Ahmed had been transferred to Karimganj Police Station earlier that day after being shifted from Dispur Police Station on Friday night.
As the Sribhumi Police did not seek an extension of their remand, the court ordered Mahbubul Hoque’s transfer to judicial custody.
