Uzbek Journos Delegation Visits Press Club of India, Signs MoU

New Delhi, Nov. 23: A 16-member delegation of journalists from Uzbekistan, who is on a 7-day official visit to India, visited the Press Club of India (PCI) here Tuesday. They were honored at a meeting held at the PCI. The visiting delegation also signed a Memorandum on Mutual Partnership and Experience Exchange with the PCI.

Mr. Aziz Baratov, Charge d’Affaires of Uzbekistan in Delhi; Muhammadjon Obidov, Chairman of Fergana regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan; the Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan and head of the delegation, Mr. Farmon Toshev; Member of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan, Editor-in-Chief of the “Zarafshon” newspaper of the Samarkand region, and the Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan spoke about the consistently developing cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.

In recent years, largescale reforms have been implemented in various aspects of life in Uzbekistan. Particular attention was paid to the legal framework for media activities created on the basis of advanced international experience, ensuring freedom of speech, strengthening place of non-state sources of information and social networks in the life of society, and the importance of international cooperation in this area.

Mr. Manoranjan Bharati, Vice President of the PCI and other speakers stated that the historical relations between Uzbek and Indian peoples have today reached a qualitatively new level.

The parties emphasized that the media occupy a special place in the process of conveying the content and importance of today’s high level of Uzbek-Indian relations to the peoples of the two countries and the international community, and expressed a unanimous opinion on the development of cooperation in this direction.

As a result of the negotiations, Mr. Manoranjan Bharati, Vice-president of the PCI, and Mr. Muhammadjon Obidov, Chairman of Fergana branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum on Mutual Partnership and Experience Exchange. The document states that the PCI and the Fergana regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan have established partnerships with equal rights. They will assist each other in terms of information exchange between the media of the two countries, organize mutual media tours and exchange of experience among journalists, jointly hold forums and conferences, and mutually invite journalists from the two countries to creative competitions and other important events.
