VC Jamia Hamdard Meets with Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Delhi’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare

New Delhi: Prof. (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, along with Dr. Uzma Bano, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, School of Unani Medical Education and Research (SUMER), and Mr. Rajeev Sinha, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor, met with Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Transport, and Information Technology, Government of NCT of Delhi, to discuss the development and promotion of Unani Medicine.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor briefed the Minister on the various schools and institutions under the aegis of Jamia Hamdard, particularly those contributing to healthcare both nationally and internationally. He emphasised the critical role of Unani Medicine in addressing current health challenges and sought the Minister’s guidance and support for its upliftment. The Vice Chancellor expressed that such support would be instrumental in fostering innovation, enhancing academic excellence, and empowering students, thereby positioning Jamia Hamdard as a global leader in traditional healthcare education.

Prof. M. Afshar Alam reiterated Jamia Hamdard’s commitment to working in close collaboration with the Government of Delhi to achieve shared goals and aspirations. With continued support and encouragement, the university is poised to make significant advancements in both education and research.

He also extended a formal invitation to Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh to visit the Jamia Hamdard campus and witness firsthand the university’s contributions to nation-building and healthcare innovation especially in the field of Unani system of medicine.
