Malappuram – The Wisdom Islamic Youth Organisation has strongly criticised the Waqf Act, calling it a direct threat to the rights of minorities in India. At a youth leadership camp held in Tirur, organisation president K. Thajudheen Swalahi condemned the Union government’s proposed amendments, stating they aim to dismantle the very essence of Waqf and infringe upon constitutional freedoms, reported the Hindu.
“This is not just a Muslim issue; it affects all minorities,” Swalahi declared during the camp’s inauguration. He accused the government of acting under the influence of right-wing Hindu groups, who he said are systematically targeting minority institutions and places of worship across the nation.
The camp urged citizens to remain vigilant against opportunistic forces using the Waqf issue for political gain and condemned divisive rhetoric aimed at disturbing communal harmony. Participants also appealed to political parties to refrain from supporting individuals or groups sowing seeds of religious and caste-based discord.
Wisdom Youth State General Secretary T.K. Nishad Salafi presided over the event. Other speakers included Anfas Mukram, U. Mohammed Madani, Naseef P.P., Haris Kayakodi, Jamsheer Swalahi, Faslu Rahman, Firos Khan Swalahi, Mustafa Madani, Basheer V.P., Abdul Malik, Abdullah Ansari, Sinajudheen P., and Mohammed Shabeer M.K.
