‘We Won’t Allow India to Become a Hindu Nation’: Karnataka CM’s Son Yathindra Siddaramaiah

Mysuru: Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Member of Karnataka Legislative Council and son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has strongly opposed the idea of India becoming a single-religion nation. Speaking at an event here, he underscored the importance of preserving India’s secular character, asserting that the country’s strength lies in its diversity.

At the National Education Day and Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration organised by the State Government Muslim Employees Welfare Association, Yathindra remarked, “India is a nation made up of various castes, religions, and cultures. Sadly, some are attempting to transform it into a one-religion nation for political purposes. We must stand against such efforts.”

He further emphasised that as long as India adheres to the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the idea of establishing a Hindu Rashtra is untenable. “Our Constitution protects the rights and freedoms of all communities, providing a solid foundation that ensures equality and justice for every citizen,” he stated.

Yathindra described efforts to impose a singular religious identity on India as dangerous. “We must not allow this to happen. However, we must remain calm. The majority of Indians believe in the values of peace and unity. Defending the Constitution is crucial for preserving harmony in a diverse society,” he concluded.
