Thiruvananthapuram, April 17: The Kerala unit of the Welfare Party of India has declared its backing for the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Kerala. Emphasizing the significance of the Congress gaining more seats, the party’s state president, Razaq Paleri, stated that this is crucial for removing the “Sangh Parivar” from power. Paleri highlighted the erosion of constitutional bodies and the weakening of India’s democratic, secular foundations over the past decade as reasons for the party’s decision to support the UDF.
The Welfare Party of India has decided to support the candidates of the Congress-led UDF in all 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala, aligning with the INDIA alliance, considering the unique situation in the state. Paleri clarified that this decision was made independently by the Welfare Party, without direct consultation with the Congress.
