Well-Known Broadcaster Aslam Farshori Passes Away at 76

Hyderabad: Renowned broadcaster, poet, theatre artist, and film actor Aslam Farshori passed away on Thursday morning, at the age of 76. His nephew, Ashhar Farhan, confirmed the news, reports the Siyasat.

Farshori began his illustrious career as a casual announcer with All India Radio during his teenage years. A graduate of Anwar-ul-Uloom College, he was elected president of the student union during his academic journey. He played an active role in the Telangana agitation and co-founded the world’s first humour society, Zinda Dilan-e-Hyderabad. Additionally, he served as the secretary of the Fine Arts Academy, a prominent cultural society in Hyderabad.

During his tenure as a producer at All India Radio, Farshori became a household name with his portrayal of Lala Bhai in the iconic daily show Chhoti Chhoti Baatein. Beyond radio, he was deeply involved in the performing arts, directing, producing, and acting in numerous plays. His career trajectory eventually led him to the role of Programme Executive at All India Radio.

The funeral prayer (namaz-e-janaza) was offered at Suncity Masjid on the outskirts of Hyderabad at 7:20 pm. The burial (tadfeen) was done at Dargah-e-Yusufain, Nampally, at 9:00 pm.

Aslam Farshori’s multifaceted contributions to broadcasting, culture, and the arts will be fondly remembered by many.
