Wife of Slain Navy Officer Appeals for Peace, Urges Not to Blame Muslims or Kashmiris

On the birth anniversary of Lt. Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the recent Pahalgam terror attack, his wife Himanshi made a heartfelt appeal for peace and unity. Speaking at a blood donation camp organized in his memory, she urged the nation not to target Muslims or Kashmiris in response to the incident. “We should not target Muslims or Kashmiris. We want peace,” she said, calling for an end to hate and division, reported the Onemedia.
Lt. Vinay Narwal, an Indian Navy officer, lost his life on April 22 while on his honeymoon with Himanshi. The couple had been married just six days earlier, on April 16. Their original plan to travel to Switzerland was canceled due to visa issues, leading them to choose Jammu and Kashmir as an alternative. The trip turned into a tragedy.
In a widely circulated video, Himanshi recalled the chilling moment of the attack: “I was eating bhel puri with my husband. A man came and asked if he was Muslim. When he said no, the man shot him.” Her account, full of pain and bravery, has sparked emotional reactions across the country. Watch the video here
A heart-wrenching image of Himanshi sitting beside her husband’s body has become symbolic of the consequences of hatred. Yet, amid her grief, she made it clear she seeks justice—not revenge—urging authorities to take action against the assailants without resorting to collective blame.
On what would have been Vinay’s 27th birthday, Himanshi asked for prayers and strength, choosing to honor her husband’s memory with a message of compassion.
