Aligarh: The Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the Training & Placement Office (General), AMU, and Himalaya Wellness Company, Bengaluru, organised a workshop on “Medicine Meets Industry: Career Shifts for Healthcare Professionals” to guide students and professionals on career opportunities in the pharmaceutical and wellness sectors.
The event was inaugurated by Professor Mohammad Habib Raza, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent of JN Medical College Hospital, who stressed the importance of ethical collaborations between academia and industry to advance medical education and patient care.

Dr. Rajesh Kumawat, Head of Medical Services & Clinical Development, Himalaya Wellness Company, spoke on emerging roles for healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical industry and invited pharmacology students to apply for internships. He suggested signing an MoU between JNMC (through TPO-AMU) and Himalaya Wellness Company to facilitate structured placements, training, and recruitment opportunities.
Dr Ashok B.K., Senior Manager, Ayush & Scientific Affairs, Himalaya Wellness Company, highlighted the complexity of herbal products and the need for strict quality control to ensure efficacy and safety.
Welcoming the guests, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, said such workshops bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands, providing students with insights into non-traditional career paths.
A panel discussion featured Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Mr. Saad Hameed (TPO, AMU), and Dr. Rajesh Kumawat, who spoke on innovation, employability skills, and industry exposure. The session was followed by an interactive Q&A that engaged participants on topics including herbal medicine research and career strategies.
The panel was coordinated by Dr Ammar Khalid, Senior Resident, Department of Pharmacology, while Dr Nachiket Brahmankar and Dr Sneha Chaudhary, Junior Residents, managed the workshop proceedings. The event drew participation from clinicians, faculty, and postgraduate students of JNMC, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, and other institutions, with all attendees receiving participation kits and certificates
