Aligarh: A three-day programme marking the World Cancer Day, with the theme “United for Unique” was organised by the Department of Radiation Oncology, J.N. Medical College and Hospital, Aligarh Muslim University, under the aegis of UPAROI Society.
The events included a cancer quiz under the supervision of Dr. Shadab Alam, and poster making, slogan making, reel making, image reimagination, and cancer ribbon re-imagined programme under the supervision of Dr. Mohsin Khan.
Around 120 participants from different faculties and schools of AMU took part in these events. A cancer survivors meet was also part of the programme.
The chief guest, Prof. Mohammad Habib Raza, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Principal and CMS, JNMC, said in his encouraging remarks, “We must stand as solid as rock to face the difficulties, challenges and mis-happenings in life.”
The guest of honour, Prof. Amjad Ali Rizvi, Medical Superintendent, also motivated the participants and congratulated the department for conducting the awareness programme.
Prof. Mohammad Akram, Organising Chairman, welcomed the guests and participants and emphasised the importance of standing united with cancer survivors.
Prof Akram conducted the cancer survivors meet wherein the survivors shared their treatment stories and how they all fought with cancer along with their families in their respective unique ways.
The members of the organising department formed a queue showcasing that they stand united with every unique patient.
All the survivors and their caregivers were felicitated by the Dean, Faculty of Medicine and MS, JNMC.
Dr. Mohammad Shadab Alam read the report of the events. During the valedictory function, winners of the events and participants were felicitated. Dr. Bilal Hussain proposed a vote of thanks.
