Jaipur-Promotion of Unani Medicine is True Tribute to Hakim Ajmal Khan: Imaduddin Ahmed Khan (Press release by Dr. Syed Abdul Majid)
The All India Unani Medical Congress Rajasthan State, in collaboration with the Rajasthan Unani Medical College, organized a celebration of “World Unani Medicine Day” at the Chamber of Commerce, Jaipur. The event was presided over by Professor Mushtaq Ahmed. In his address, he emphasized the recognition of the national, social, and political contributions of the renowned freedom fighter, Hakim Hafiz Mohammad Ajmal Khan. He urged the Indian government to honor him with the Bharat Ratna and elevate his established Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbi College in New Delhi to a National Unani University.
The chief guest, former Health Minister of Rajasthan, Nawab Imaduddin Ahmed Khan, expressed that promoting Unani medicine is the true tribute to Hakim Ajmal Khan. He shared, “We have worked tirelessly for the promotion of Unani and Ayurvedic medicine.” Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Secretary General of the All India Unani Medical Congress, thanked Nawab Imaduddin Ahmed Khan for his efforts in establishing the separate Unani Department and the government-run Unani Medical College in Rajasthan. He also extended gratitude to the late Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Gurdhari Lal Bhargava, Dr. Ujla Arora, and Mr. Ashok Gehlot for their significant contributions in advancing Unani medicine in the state.
Other speakers at the event included Dr. Sunil Sharma (Vice-Chancellor, Gyan Vihar University Jaipur), Amin Kagazi (MLA), Mohammad Rafiq Khan (MLA), Chaudhary Mohammad Munawar Khan, Professor Ghulam Qutb Chishti, Dr. Mahmood Hasan Siddiqui, Dr. Fayaz Ahmad, Dr. Mohammad Aslam, Dr. Mohammad Shafiq Ahmad Naqvi, Dr. Azam Ansari, and Dr. Mohammad Irshad Khan, who all paid tribute to Hakim Ajmal Khan. The event was moderated by Dr. Syed Abdul Majid. A large number of teachers, students, and medical practitioners were present at the program.
