WPI Joins Protest against Kerala CM for Portraying Malappuram as Hub of Anti-National Activities

Malappuram: Muslim organizations across Kerala, including the Welfare Party of India (WPI), have strongly condemned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for his controversial remarks targeting Malappuram district, suggesting it as a hub of anti-national activities. Protesters accused the Chief Minister of unfairly blaming the people of Malappuram for smuggling activities at the Calicut International Airport in Karipur.

The protestors, including Muslim Youth League (MYL), Muslim Students Federation (MSF), and Kerala Muslim Jamaat, decried the CM’s comments, alleging they serve the agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Youth Congress district president Haris Mudur emphasized that Vijayan’s actions reflect a lowering of his position, claiming that the RSS’s influence is evident in his remarks.

P.K. Firoz, State Secretary of MYL, accused the CM of adopting RSS’s rhetoric, while MSF president P.K. Navas criticized Vijayan for allegedly wearing a Communist façade while promoting divisive agendas.

The WPI took a leading role in the demonstrations by burning an effigy of the Chief Minister, raising banners demanding his resignation. The party declared that Vijayan’s statements aimed to disrupt the peace and harmony of the district. The Kerala Muslim Jamaat also urged the government to retract its attempts to malign Malappuram, warning that such actions could incite further unrest in the region.

Protesters highlighted that linking Malappuram to smuggling operations is part of a broader strategy to vilify the Muslim-majority district and its residents, further deepening communal divides.
