Jaipur, April 25: The Welfare Party of India, Rajasthan has filed a formal complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his recent speech in Banswara, Rajasthan. The State President of the party, Waqar Ahmed, addressed the Rajasthan State Chief Election Commissioner on Wednesday, highlighting what the party deems as offensive remarks made by the Prime Minister during his address on April 21.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner, the WPI-Rajasthan expressed deep concern over Modi’s remarks targeting the Muslim community. The complaint cited the Prime Minister’s alleged misrepresentation of a speech by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and accused Modi of using derogatory language towards the Muslim population, referring to them as “infiltrators” and “producers of children in large numbers”.
Arshad Ali, WPI-Rajasthan Secretary condemned Modi’s statements as “extremely condemnable, objectionable, and insulting”. Ali further emphasized that such remarks were not only disrespectful but also posed a threat to national unity and integrity.
The WPI-Rajasthan complaint urged the Election Commission to take immediate action against Prime Minister Modi, calling for a ban on his election speeches and campaigning. The party emphasized that Modi’s speech violated Model Code of Conduct and People Representation Act, 1951.
The protest against Modi’s speech underscores the escalating tensions in the political landscape of Rajasthan as the state gears up for crucial elections. The WPI-Rajasthan’s formal complaint seeks a decisive response from electoral authorities regarding the contentious remarks made by the Prime Minister during his campaign at Banswara.
