Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) after its leader, Mata Prasad Pandey, demanded Urdu translation for House proceedings. Adityanath accused the SP of “double standards,” claiming that while its leaders send their children to English-medium schools, they want others to study Urdu and become maulvis.
The exchange took place on the first day of the Budget Session in the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha. The Speaker announced that proceedings would be available in Awadhi, Bhojpuri, Braj, Bundeli, and English, but Urdu was not included. This led to objections from SP, prompting a sharp response from the Chief Minister.
