Pratapgarh: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the Samajwadi Party and the Congress over their remarks on the Ram temple embezzlement issue, accusing both parties of targeting Hindu faith while remaining silent on issues related to Waqf.
Addressing a public gathering in Pratapgarh, Yogi questioned the Opposition’s silence on alleged irregularities involving Waqf properties, alleging thousands of hectares of land belonging to poor and weaker sections had been sold in the name of Waqf.
The Chief Minister also referred to the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and claimed the Opposition was unhappy because the site no longer carried what he described as the Babri structure. He accused the Samajwadi Party and the Congress of changing their political stand on Ayodhya.
Yogi said both parties lacked fresh political issues and were relying on caste based politics and criticism of religious faith. He also alleged they opposed the development taking place in Uttar Pradesh, including improved roads, railway connectivity and facilities for devotees in Ayodhya.
The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 111 development projects worth more than Rs 384 crore in the Pratapgarh and Vishwanath Ganj constituencies.
Yogi said the state government continued its development agenda under the slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” and asserted Uttar Pradesh had moved beyond its earlier image of being a backward state. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh continues to face high levels of crime and human welfare challenges, in the backdrop of the embezzlement scandal.
